The Leadership Development Department oversees training and resources for Greater Vancouver Youth Unlimited. This includes volunteer and staff training, youth worker resources and developing young urban youth missionaries through the Lifeteams 9-month program. Great Christian communicators like Iona Snair, Jen Hubbard and Brian Brown are a key part of this growing department!
Lifeteams
Lifeteams is a youth ministry training school, emphasizing hands-on experience in relational youth work as well as compassionate outreach opportunities, solid teaching, individual mentorship and community living. It provides a place for God to impact the students, while the students are impacting young people who aren't likely to find their way inside the doors of a church. Living in a community of 10-12 students, there is the opportunity to fully practice authentic faith that dissolves the separation between ministry and life, and provides unique challenges. The Rwanda Elevation project is a partnership between Greater Vancouver YFC/Youth Unlimited and Rwanda Youth for Christ that includes child sponsorship, building projects, micro-credit programs, and school and community support. We also have regular mission adventures with teams of young people traveling out from Canada to run youth camps and building projects in the capital city, Kigali. Our dream is to bring young people together in Canada and Rwanda, in order to see a nation in need reach its full potential. In so doing, we hope to see the youth of our own nation be challenged to greater heights of compassion, service and calling. For more info check out www.elevate-rwanda.com.
Created to bring youth and parents together in a relaxed environment, our Youth and Parent Adventure Retreats center is located in Mission. Led by Dave and Sharon Wiebe, the center is focused on families, providing resources and an environment to spend quality time together. With a variety of activities and services, Youth and Parent Adventure Retreats enables families to establish both increased communication and deeper levels of relationship, where they could otherwise be torn apart by the stress of the culture we live in.
