Philippa grew up in England, moved to Ontario and eventually found herself in Abbotsford, BC with the Youth Unlimited Lifeteams program. During the 2016-2017 school year, Philippa did her Lifeteams placement in Langley which further stirred her passion for walking alongside youth in their joys and their struggles. This has since prompted her to join the Langley team through the Youth Unlimited Apprenticeship Program. After a few months of hard work building a team of partners, Philippa began working full time in Langley mid-January of 2018. She has jumped head first into youth work, meeting with students regularly, spending many hours at Walnut Grove Secondary and assisting in the planning of our Spiritual Life program.
Philippa loves to help foster resilience in the lives of the teens she works with. Through meeting students where they are at, listening to their struggles, and encouraging them in their victories, Philippa passionately desires the youth she builds relationships with to know that they are valued, loved and known. When people feel that they have worth, have someone walking with them and have a growing purpose in life, they are much more able to withstand the hardships that are thrown their way. In her own life, she has experienced the immense value of having healthy, consistent and encouraging adults to support her journey and desires to be that now in the lives of youth in Langley.
Philippa loves being a part of the Langley team. She has this ability to notice things in youth that the rest of the team often misses, and tirelessly advocates to continually do more, love deeper and care greater.Philippa wears her heart on her sleeve. Thoughtful words and gifts, and heartfelt prayers can often leave tears in her eyes, showing the sensitivity of her heart. She has a deep desire to one day own a hedgehog and has this phenomenal ability to switch into an English accent, depending on who she is speaking to!
Together we can transform the world our youth live in—but we can’t do it without you.Take Action
