Arlene Friesen

Youth Worker

If you were to ask Arlene Friesen why she is so passionate about working with teens who have fallen through the cracks, it might be that their story was once her own. To her, it’s all about “walking beside them through life’s peaks and valleys, loving and supporting them. ”

Her love for youth started with a career in the Surrey School District for 22 years before pursuing a certificate from the Justice Institute focused on studies surrounding issues of substance abuse, self-harm, and anxiety. Involved in Youth Unlimited’s community and school programs, Arlene finds passion in helping youth and “seeing them make better choices and helping them find God. ” And sports is a big part of this! Arlene loves sports and being part of a team – building community together. For her, it’s all about connecting youth to other support systems because, really, it’s all about a love for these kids!
