Barry McLeod

Youth Worker

I have the privilege of passing on God’s love, wisdom and peace.

Barry heard God’s clear direction to work with the at risk youth in East Vancouver during a chapel service in 1976. And that’s just what he did before moving to Mission with his family of four children and his beautiful wife in 1993 to become a part of the staff team at Youth Unlimited!

“Over the years, some of the challenges facing youth have changed and some of the methods to help the youth have changed, but what hasn’t changed is the need that young people have for caring, concerned adults to be there for them.” Barry goes on to say, “I am thankful that God has called me to reach out to many of these youth with his love and the good news of Jesus.”

With YU, Barry spends his time walking alongside youth, whether by providing a listening ear to heartbreaking stories, leading boys club in the local Middle School or giving support to youth who are facing a variety of life’s challenges.

Barry is also involved with ‘MY House’, YU’s resource facility for homeless and vulnerable youth which provides a place for unconditional love while providing nutrition, showers, counselling, life skills and even music lessons. It’s quite amazing to be a part of a community based youth program that is founded on unconditionally loving hurting young people.
