“We do not believe in ourselves until someone reveals that deep inside us is something valuable, worth listening to, worthy of our trust, sacred to our touch. Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” – e.e. cummings
Rachel thrives in those moments.
Forgotten water bottles, lost sporks, sleepless nights, and “No TikTok? You can’t be serious!”—for Rachel, this is just another day. Yet, nothing compares to seeing a young person light up after achieving something they never thought possible. Rachel believes that feeling stays with them, empowering them to seek growth and joy.
Luke 24 shows how Jesus engaged the senses to awaken understanding. While we can’t touch the moment the disciples saw the risen Christ, we can engage with the world He created—the one declaring His glory.
“The outdoors is where I simplify life, focus on God, and marvel at His creation. It humbles me, exposing my raw, human self. That’s why I’m passionate about taking youth outdoors, especially in a generation glued to screens. It’s hard for them to unplug, but it’s vital for connection and growth.”
Rachel’s vision is to help youth access Vancouver’s mountains and shorelines. She dreams of creating space to slow down, spark adventure, and foster connection in a culture of isolation. Along the way, you might find her cooking too much food with her husband and hosting more guests than her home can fit—because there’s always room for s’more.
Here’s to discovering new places, laughing, eating, empowering, and building relationships through outdoor adventure in Greater Vancouver and beyond. Will you join her?
Together we can transform the world our youth live in—but we can’t do it without you.
