Ryan comes from a background in professional film, TV and theatre. Through the years though, he has never been able to escape the calling to work with youth and his desire to see them realize the unique identity they have in Christ. This shift to work in a missions context came about from spending 6 months overseas with a Youth With A Mission performing arts group trekking to remote villages in Nepal and the Philippines, sharing the gospel through performance and teaching basic life skills.
Originally from Kamloops, Ryan moved to the Lower Mainland with his family when he was 10 and has grown up in church helping out at kids camps, teaching in Sunday school, leading youth groups and leading young adult Bible studies. He has had many opportunities to work in ministry outside of church as well, taking part in mission trips to New Orleans, New York, Thailand, and then most recently to Nepal and the Philippines.
Despite all this awesome work God has led Ryan through, he experienced a lot of bullying growing up. Knowing what it’s like to not fit in or feel like anyone cares about you, Ryan wants to extend the kind of love he has received from God to youth so they can know there is always a home for them and they are always worthy of love. All of this together has brought him to Youth Unlimited and he is excited to be part of the Jesters team where his love for the performing arts can be mixed with his love for Christ!
Together we can transform the world our youth live in—but we can’t do it without you.Take Action
