Sarah Chow

Youth Worker

As a Youth Worker with Youth Unlimited Vancouver Outreach, Sarah works alongside Amanda
Ratzlaff running the ‘Friday Program’. They offer a safe space for vulnerable youth to come and
be; to be invited, to be seen, and to be known. It is a space where they hold onto hope for one
another and celebrate the gift of each young friend’s presence. In the words of one of their
youth, Friday group is “like a family.”

Sarah has always had a heart for working with people and believes there is so much beauty to
be discovered in community. She got involved with Youth Unlimited back in 2020 while
completing the Youth Outreach Certificate Program– Lifeteams. During the program, Sarah had
the opportunity to do a youth work practicum in an alternative high-school. She absolutely loved
working with youth and journeying alongside them as they explored life’s big and little questions.
Talking about all things from “Is water wet?” to “Do dogs go to heaven?” to “Why do bad things
happen to good people?” Sarah’s favourite response is often “Tell me what got you thinking
about that?” After Lifeteams, Sarah continued volunteering with Youth Unlimited as a youth
worker until officially joining as staff!

Aside from working, she’s chipping away at a Bachelors of Social Work and when she’s not
doing school or work, you can find her taking slow, quiet days in the mountains or by the
ocean… or where good snacks and good people are!
