Jen Mascardo

Student Intern

Jen is a Canadian-born Filipino raised in Burnaby. She enjoys going to cafes, spending time with God in creation, eating good food, and playing basketball. She loves people and sees great ministry potential in sharing meals with others and engaging in sports as a means to build relationships.

This year, Jen will be participating in an Intercultural Studies internship during her third year at Columbia Bible College. Her internship will involve time spent with youth in the form of one-on-one mentoring, front yard visits, small group girls’ nights, and day trips. Connecting with the youth in West Abbotsford provides an opportunity for Jen to use her God-given gifts while also putting into practice what she’s been learning through her Intercultural Studies and Youth Work courses at CBC.

An added highlight of this internship for Jen is the fact that she’s already been spending the last two years volunteering with Youth Unlimited. This experience has encouraged Jen by revealing evidence of God’s work in the youth she has spent time getting to know. During this time, she’s had the great privilege of witnessing a young person come to know Jesus and continues to watch as God opens doors for discipleship. Over the years, Jen has recognized the importance of being surrounded by those who provide support and spend time building her up. She hopes to invest in students the way others have invested in her as she seeks to further develop the relationships she has already begun.

Jen sees this internship as an opportunity to take part in making disciples of all nations through pouring into the youth God has placed in her midst. She aims to create a space for youth to feel accepted, encouraged and loved. She looks forward to seeing them learn and grow as she continues to learn and grow herself.
