Why Jen Hubbard is Sleeping Outside

I'm sleeping outside for one night so vulnerable youth won't have to. This is my third sleep out--and each time, I've been stunned by the discomfort I've felt. It's cold, the ground is hard, and I just want it to be over. And for me, after one night it is--but for so many youth, they don't get a choice. Home isn't always a safe place to be, and the streets simply seem a better choice. Sometimes, the streets are the only choice. I'm sleeping out for those who don't have a choice--for a better future for teens in our community.
